Juan Soto still has plenty of suitors on the horizon. Besides the Dodgers, Soto has already sat down with the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, New York Mets, Toronto Blue Jays, and even a mystery team that hasn’t yet been named. According to MLB insider Ken Rosenthal, one team seems to stand out more than the others: the Mets. He believes Soto’s ultimate goal is crystal clear: maximizing his value and setting a new benchmark for player contracts.
After all, Soto is one of the most gifted young talents the game has ever seen, and when it comes to negotiating a deal, Juan Soto and his agent, Scott Boras, are going to push for what’s rightfully his. So, the big question is: Who’s in the best position to deliver that record-breaking deal?

MLB Insider favors Mets to take Juan Soto
Ken Rosenthal had a pretty straightforward answer on Foul Territory on why the Mets getting Soto is the “most likely scenario.” He explained, “So, who’s the guy [in] the best position to give him that? In my view, it’s [Steven] Cohen. Now, it doesn’t mean it’s going to end up that way, but if I were a betting man, that’s the way I would bet.” Now, it’s not a done deal by any means, and Rosenthal acknowledged that things could certainly go in another direction.

But let’s face it: the Mets are one of the few teams that can afford to chase Juan Soto with the kind of deal that could reset the market. Cohen has already shown a willingness to spend big—a franchise-altering contract could be within reach for the Mets. And that’s the key here; while other teams like the Yankees and Dodgers could certainly make competitive offers, it’s the Mets who have the most flexibility and financial muscle to do something truly unprecedented.
The Mets meeting with this off-season’s most wanted
The New York Mets have officially entered the Juan Soto sweepstakes. In a meeting with Soto and his agent Scott Boras this past Saturday, Mets owner Steve Cohen was accompanied by other team officials. According to reports from Jon Heyman, the meeting was described as “very detailed”, signaling the Mets’ serious commitment to landing the 26-year-old superstar.

What’s your perspective on:
Will the Mets' financial muscle finally bring Juan Soto to New York, or is it all hype?
Have an interesting take?
The team can now set a new record for baseball contracts, potentially pushing Soto’s deal into the $600 million range. The Mets’ pitch was described as a “big production”; Cohen’s willingness to spend big has already been proven, and with Soto likely to demand a contract spanning 12–13 years, New York is positioned to meet those requirements.
However, the Mets aren’t the only team in the mix. Reportedly, the Boston Red Sox and Toronto Blue Jays also had “productive” meetings with Soto. Moreover, the Yankees, too, remain a significant threat after acquiring him last season—after all, Juan Soto had a stellar season, securing 41 home runs and 109 RBIs. With multiple suitors in the race, who do you think will bag the most dramatic deal this offseason? Share your prediction in the comments below.
