During the off-season, the narrative of fluctuating twists and turns in MLB continues. The reason is the latest reports surrounding the in-demand outfielder, whom the New York Yankees were confident of getting earlier. However, that all changed after a demand was made from the San Diego Padres. This latest development has led to a non-American team enter the mix.

Given that teams don’t want to leave any opportunity to become better, especially when a young player like Juan Soto is in reach, the latest reports of Toronto Blue Jays’ agreement to splurge money also suggest the same.

The Juan Soto saga is all about fulfilling the demand now. As per Hector Gomez, it seems the Blue Jays are ready to do what is needed. He shared, SOURCE: #BlueJays intensify talks with #Padres for Juan Soto. The #BlueJays now emerge as the favorites to land Soto.”

Interesting! Isn’t it? Well, this was bound to happen because of the conditions that were placed in front of the Yankees. Notably, the Padres asked for a few pitchers and multiple prospects to be included in the deal. It caused the breakdown of talks, giving other teams, including the Blue Jays, to play their cards too.

Though surprising, the move makes sense, all thanks to their active payroll of $129 million. It gives them an edge in signing costly players. This is the reason behind their quest for Soto, who is also reportedly expected to cost around $400 million. Even if they sign the outfielder, they would still have the buffer to add more players to the team, which the Yankees can’t afford. So is it all over for them?

Will the Yankees Get Another Chance to Pursue Juan Soto?

It seems all is over for the New York Yankees, but that’s not the entire picture. The road is still open, all thanks to the Shohei Ohtani sweepstakes. Reportedly, the Jays are involved in Ohtani, and if they sign him, getting Soto would be tough.

As per Andy Martino, the Yankees are not out of the race. He shared, “It has been quiet today between the Yankees and Padres, per sources. Rivals see Toronto as a real contender for Soto, but believe they are waiting to see if they’re getting Ohtani. Could still pick up again for the Yanks.”

Thus, it seems, the 25-year-old can become pinstriper in the coming season. However, all of it will depend on what happens next with Ohtani. Plus, how the Yanks see Soto on the team against the trade of their few players. What are your thoughts on this?
