A wise man once said: With great power (in this case, money) comes great responsibilities. With Juan Soto signing the biggest contract in MLB history, we cannot think of anything else other than that saying! While Soto will be looking forward to the big payday, the Mets will be looking forward to him being their money’s worth.
Tough ask? Maybe not, because the Mets and Juan Soto both know what he can achieve. It wasn’t like Soto just asked for this much amount; the numbers backed up his value. And The bidding war for him definitely helped increase the number. A bunch of teams were ready to commit to huge amounts just to get the Dominican player.

Juan Soto makes his feelings known about the pressure of performing
Now that spring training has started and the playoffs are also near, the question around the league is: “Can Juan Soto meet the expectations of the Mets owner who has put so much money into him?”
In a video uploaded by SNY on YouTube, Soto was asked by a reporter if the record contract adds pressure on him. The 26-year-old replied, “No I don’t. I got what I got because I was playing. That’s how I was playing.” His confidence builds the player within him while dealing a fat check too!
Soto further added that he is not trying to do more than what he has done in the past. The Dominican player will keep doing the same thing he has been doing year after year. “Keep grinding and keep playing hard every day,” that’s Soto’s motto.
And according to the newly minted Mets player, it does not take only one player to take the club to the World Series, it takes a whole 26-man roster to win. This is what makes him Juan Soto!
The Dominican player is excited to play with Pete Alonso
Juan Soto didn’t waste any time expressing his excitement about the Mets’ lineup, particularly about the opportunity to play alongside slugger Pete Alonso. “He’s one of the best pure power hitters in the league,” Soto said, clearly aware of the firepower Alonso brings to the table.
The timing is perfect! Alonso recently inked a two-year deal with the Mets with an opt-out after the 2025 season. And Soto is prepared to be right there with Alonso! Soto is also enthusiastic about the Mets’ offense, but it’s not only because of the ‘Polar Bear’. The five-time Silver Slugger winner continued by praising the team’s lineup as a whole and emphasizing the balance they provide at the plate.

The MLB community and fans cannot wait to hear him make some major noise in the upcoming seasons, with just 27 home runs left before he breaks the franchise’s all-time record.
The Mets’ lineup might be among the most potent in the game because of their combination of contact and power batters. The club’s lineup is ranked second in the league, only behind the Baltimore Orioles, according to FanGraphs’ Wins Above Replacement predictions. So, it’s not only Soto who says this.
