MLB Gold Glove Winner Finds a Rare Positive in New York Yankees Fans Booing Their Own Stars– “Just So Happen to Love It!”

The New York Yankees are an iconic franchise in baseball. Very few MLB teams are as globally popular as the Yankees.  Understandably, such elite teams also have a passionate fan following. And given the large fan base of the Pinstripes, at times, the Yankees fans did not hesitate to criticize their favorite franchise. Speaking about the same, the Yankees’ catcher said he takes it in a positive way.

Remarkably, having won 27 World Series championships so far, the Yankees have established their status as a powerhouse franchise. No other team has yet to win more World Series trophies to date. Any MLB player that wins games for the Yankees turns into a hero and fan expectations rise to peak levels. But whenever the team fails, the fans go furious and jeer their players. Talking about the same, Jose Trevino said he loves the criticism.

New York Yankees’ Jose Trevino on dealing with the fans’ expectations:

Jose Trevino is one of the players whose life changed for the better, after joining the Pinstripes. He has witnessed various forms of crowd response in relation to the performances. However, he is someone who cherishes playing in the electric Yankees’ atmosphere. In a recent interview with the MLB Network, Trevino opened up on his feelings toward the crowd’s response.  

Speaking to the MLB Network, Trevino said, “It’s the New York Yankees, you know. We expect to win championships and so do the fans. And you know, that’s just how it’s gonna be. Some people like it, some people don’t like it. I just so happen to love it. Every day wanting to win every single game. “

Trevino added, saying, “I’m okay with that, you know. I’m okay with going out there and risking what there needs having an expectation of winning. I’m totally fine with that, so I enjoy that. But New York’s definitely different.”

“Like you said, as big as any player, you go there and you know where you’re playing. You know you’re playing the Yankees and now it’s a big stage. So you get pretty excited. But being on the home side, you are excited every day”, Trevino further said. 

Jose Trevino’s MLB career to date and the shift in the tide 

Trevino made his MLB debut as the catcher for the Texas Rangers in 2018. He joined the Yankees in 2022 and has already gained considerable stardom. Following a long list of accolades, he won the Platinum Glove, Gold Glove, and Fielding Bible Awards altogether this year. Additionally, Trevino also made his first-ever MLB All-Star appearance this year as well.
