Opening Day is nearing and baseball fans all over the world are excited to see their favorite teams suit up. But the off-season and Spring Training have not been kind to the New York Yankees with injuries plaguing the team. If reports are true, then several starting players will be out till April and even May, including Carlos Rodon, Harrison Bader, Nestor Cortes Jr., and a few more. 

And now, when the Opening Day is just two weeks away, the Pinstripes skipper Aaron Boone provided another upsetting news. Yes, most recently, Boone confirmed that the Yankees’ go-to catcher Jose Trevino will be out from playing baseball for a while.

Spring Training and the off-season have been difficult for the New York Yankees organization. They have suffered several injuries, with key players set to miss the beginning of the 2023 season. But Yankees Manager Aaron Boone recently provided a positive update on star catcher Jose Trevino. Boone said that Trevino is expected to start playing sometime this week and that he will be ready for Opening Day. MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch shared the update on Twitter.

In a Tweet, Hoch said, “Jose Trevino has been out with a right wrist sprain. Aaron Boone said Trevino is expected to resume playing later this week, though an injection remains possible. Boone said he expects Trevino will be ready for Opening Day. #yankees”. This is not the best news as fans expected him to be healthy for the season.

But fans have had mixed reactions to the update on Trevino’s injury. Many of them simply do not believe he will be ready to start the season and are distraught.

Some fans expressed devastation and frustration at Trevino’s injury.

Other fans even said that the team is cursed. There were even fans that were suggesting that Isiah Kiner-Falefa might play at catcher as well this season.

The general outlook on the Opening Day roster is bleak for the Yankees, with several key players injured. It will be interesting to see how the team bounces back from these issues and moves forward. 

The Yankees are trying out different fielding placements

With a shortage of players in multiple positions and struggling veterans in others, the New York Yankees are experimenting. The team is trying out Aaron Judge in left field, a position he has not played since college. They are also reportedly going to try to play Isiah Kiner-Falefa at the center field position.
