The MLB season has now come to an end for multiple teams. Unfortunately, the New York Yankees are among them. Though their captain tried to light some hope, nothing eventually worked, kicking them out of postseason contention. The 2023 Yankees has disappointed the fans deeply to the extent that another player’s comeback hope for the next season didn’t please them.
Fans mostly remain loyal to their favorite team, but when they get brutal, that’s scary. The latest 7-1 defeat of the Bronx Bombers against the Arizona Diamondbacks has closed the playoff doors for the Yankees. Catcher Jose Trevino tried to give hope for next season with a good news on his return, but it didn’t work.

The 2023 season was one of the worst seasons for the team. With a long injury list, they performed below the expectations of the fans. It could have been different if Aaron Judge and Jose Trevino played for the entire season. While Judge got his injury in June and missed straight 50+ games, the star catcher’s season ended in July. He also had to undergo surgery to repair his torn ligament in his right wrist. However, a recent Twitter post shared his recovery and return update.
The Yankees beat writer Gary Phillips initially was trying to cheer up the disheartened fans with the revelation, “Jose Trevino said he’s doing well. He plans to start hitting in a couple weeks. He added that he should be good to go for spring training,” but didn’t work.

Fans started reacting the opposite, expressing their frustration through sarcasm. Though the catcher performed well during the regular season, his absence took him to the wrong side of criticism. The 2022 Golden Glove catcher’s absence made his team suffer a lot, after all.
While the 3-game series with the Arizona Diamondbacks started with a great bang, the Bronx Bombers failed to keep the performance. After a victory in the first game with a difference of 6 runs, they lost the second with the same difference on Sunday. With this, they are statistically eliminated from the postseason.
Tommy Pham, Christian Walker, and Geraldo Perdomo’s sacrifice flies turned the game in a new direction where the Diamondbacks got the lead. This turned the tables negatively for the Yankees as fans didn’t pay any heed to the catcher’s 2024 positive return, mocking him instead.
Fans Mocked Trevino’s Spring Training Return
Fans never really betray their favorite team or player, but while in disappointment, they react differently. The latter case held true with Trevino. Although he was out of the season because of injury, now fans didn’t spare him for that, saying no one requires his hitting anymore.
Who cares about his defense anymore he can’t hit. Give wells a chance to be starting catcher

Fans even rejoice sarcastically about his return
This makes 2024 something to look forward to. Overrated catcher who never gets a big hit and bats .240 in a good year is coming back. Yankee fans rejoice, we have so much to look forward to.

Some fans even directly said the team doesn’t need him.

The catcher is even rated “below average.”

Some even denied his return with a “Thank you.”
