Jorge Alfaro helped Tigres del Licey win their 23rd Dominican Winter League Title and was named Finals MVP
The Boston Red Sox recently signed Jorge Alfaro to a minor league deal. He will act as a third catcher that they can call up if needed. But Alfaro might have just given the Red Sox a reason to play him in the MLB. While suiting up for Tigres del Licey in the Dominican Winter League, Alfaro helped the team win the title. Furthermore, he was also named MVP for the Finals Series. MLB insider Hector Gomez shared informed the same via Twitter.

In a Tweet, Gomez said, ?Jorge Alfaro was named MVP of the Dominican Winter League Final Series.? This will come as good news to Red Sox fans who have been disappointed with the team as of late. Although this won?t guarantee that Alfaro plays in the MLB, it will increase his chances.

The deal to sign Alfaro was a low-risk investment for the Red Sox. According to mlb.com, the Red Sox will ?pay Alfaro $2 million if he is added to the Major League roster?. Furthermore, the team has two opt-outs in the deal that they can use on June 1st or July 1st if he?s not on their MLB roster. But the Red Sox have not done enough.

The Boston Red Sox are coming off a terrible 2022 season. They finished last in the AL East and were far off making the postseason. To make matters worse, they lost their star player, Xander Bogaerts, this off-season as he walked away in free agency. Other than that, they have not made any significant moves. Furthermore, they have been facing issues with their pitching and the consistency of their starting players.
