Smith has played over 500 games in MLB, yet his career never brought him to Seattle. However, when he eventually did come, the day became memorable. Even if Smith tries to forget it, the baseball world might never let him. As the first baseman stepped onto the plate for the first time in this stadium, he hit a solo homer off right-hander Luis Castillo in the second inning. But the blooper came in the fifth inning when Teoscar Hernández singled a ball off reliever, Cory Abbott.

The ball then went up, landing right before Smith, who ran toward the mound. At the exact moment, Smith thought he had a chance to nab Hernández and threw the ball at first base. Surprisingly, no one was present except Hernández, who stood first shocked for a millisecond and safely reached the empty base.

After throwing the ball, Smith realized that he just threw the ball at an empty base, and a smile appeared on his face. As it happened, even Hernández could not help but laugh at this error of Smith. Shortly after, when Jomboy Media posted the clip of this blooper on their social media, laughter erupted at the iconic moment-making in the baseball world, making them remember the one and only John Cena

Baseball fans might always remember this moment!

Moments like this one happens once in a while. And last night’s game at T-Mobile Park was the perfect example of such moments. Take a look at how the baseball world is reacting to the Nationals’ Dominic Smith’s first game in Seattle:
