Within moments of taking a serious dig at New York, the Reds veteran named his top 5 Yankees ever. Votto displayed a lot of energy throughout the interview while answering a variety of questions. During the time, he discussed the Reds? playoff contention and the young guys coming into the team. MLB Network shared a video of the interaction on Twitter.?

In the video, Votto said, ?Top 5 Yankees, Top 5 Yankees, Top 5 Yankees, Aaron Judge, Derek Jeter, Bernie Williams, Babe Ruth and ?Paulie? Paul O?Neill?. Russo disagreed with Votto missing Lou Gehrig on his list. This caused another energetic response from the Reds legend who said Gehrig is not a top-5 Yankee.?

Furthermore, speaking as a 17-year veteran, he has a better idea of what these players have achieved. Votto himself has come a long way this season after his career appeared to be over last year.?

Joey Votto Made a Triumphant Return

Earlier this season, Joey Votto returned to the Cincinnati Reds after spending 9 months recovering. He underwent surgery to repair a previously torn rotator cuff. It was a torturous return as he spent months on the sideline, with some writing him off. But he made a triumphant return and has had some success this year. With 8 home runs his power hitting seems to be slowly returning, but he has struggled to make contact at times. Furthermore, his future is in question as he may retire following the 2023 season. But for now, Votto will enjoy playing baseball again.?
