Aaron Judge is in a blazing form at present. He is rewriting baseball history with his batting record. Considering Judge’s splendid performances, he is the frontrunner for this year’s American League MVP Award. However, he has some stiff competition from defending MVP honoree, Shohei Ohtani.

Aaron Judge is a champion slugger and outfielder for the New York Yankees. Judge is a four-time All-Star member. On the other hand, Shohei Ohtani is a multi-talented player for the Los Angeles Angels. He is all together a pitcher, designated hitter, and occasional outfielder. Ohtani is a two-time All-Star member.

Famous sports broadcaster and analyst Joe Buck is a veteran in his field of expertise. Buck recently got asked about his pick for the American League MVP Award recipient this season. Using his knowledge about the game, he firmly stuck to his choice and explained why.

Joe Buck on Aaron Judge vs Shohei Ohtani

Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani are mostly carrying their respective teams alone throughout this season. The only difference is, that Judge’s ship is still afloat, despite being beaten by a storm. Whereas, Ohtani is the lone survivor of a sunken ship.

Means, Judge, and the Yankees are still hopeful amidst inconsistent outings. While Ohtani is producing stellar performances, the struggling Angels are, however, already out of any title contention. Judge is the leading home run-scorer this season. He has got the chance to break all seasonal records and set his own. The Yankees are at the top of the American League East zonal rankings primarily because of Judge’s assertive form.

Famous television anchor, Mike Greenberg, asked Joe Buck about his vote. Speaking on the ‘Get Up ESPN’ show, Buck replied, “Aaron Judge! Hands down now. Ohtani won last year, and you’re right. He did it last year, he is doing it again. Something we’ve never seen, you know. John Smoltz, who I work with and deeply respect, just said, ‘if he just concentrated on pitching, he’d be Jacob deGrom.’ And then you add in the power, and the way he could run, and everything. He is unbelievable, great guy.”

Buck further added, “But Judge, on a first-place team. As they’re hanging on in the AL East by five games now. Without him, they’re not where they are, clearly. And he is six away from tying the Yankees franchise record for home runs. To me, it’s Aaron Judge, and it’s him winning his first in the American League.”

The chances for the two baseball prodigies

Comparing the two, Judge has the upper hand over Ohtani. The Angels’ journey will end with the conclusion of the regular season. So Ohtani will pack his bags along. But the Yankees are still dominating the chart rankings. So with the chance to travel further in the tournament, Judge can build on his records. That speaks about the chances, but nothing is ever guaranteed.
