The Miami Marlins are coming off a 2022 season where they were one of the worst teams in baseball. The Marlins finished the season with 69 wins, earning a 4th-place finish in the NL East. Furthermore, they finished the year far out of the playoff picture. But things are not as bad as they seem for the Marlins.

The emergence of Jazz Chisholm Jr. as a young star is a huge plus for the team. Furthermore, they have been extremely active this off-season, signing free agents and making trades happen. But it seems that Marlins fans are not happy with the team’s latest trade.

The Miami Marlins have been quite busy this off-season, making a number of deals happen. They have brought in the likes of Luis Arraez and Jean Segura, among others. Most recently, they traded outfielder JJ Bleday to the Oakland Athletics for pitcher A.J. Puk. On Twitter, Talkin’ Baseball shared a video of a savage moment involving Bleday’s family while making the trade known.

In the Tweet, Talkin’ Baseball said, “A’s just traded for JJ Bleday. His family flipped off Phillies fans”. The video in question shows Bleday smashing a home run against the Philadelphia Phillies and his family making rude gestures at Phillies fans.

Fans have reacted to the video, lauding the Bleday family. Some supported them while others stated that the Phillies fans must have started it.

Marlins fans have also reacted to the trade and they are not happy. Some stated that they need Bleday over Puck. Others were just unhappy to see Bleday go, as he looked like a good prospect. But there was a general discontent over the trade.

It will be interesting to see how the trade works out for the Marlins. Puk looked decent in the 2022 season and may be a good option for the team. The Athletics, on the other hand, have got a decent prospect in Bleday. They have also been active this offseason, adding Japanese star Shintaro Fujinami. But getting back to the Marlins, their focus will be entirely on Chisholm Jr.

Marlins will need Chisholm Jr. at full health in 2023

In September 2022, the Miami Marlins confirmed that Jazz Chisholm Jr. would miss what was left of the season. According to MLB.com, “his season is done, manager Don Mattingly and general manager Kim Ng confirmed”. This was after he had suffered a back injury, which was revealed to be a lower back stress fracture.
