The 2023 season has not been kind to the baseball world. Multiple personalities who have played a significant role in the sport’s growth have left for the heavenly abode. It has left the baseball community mourning. The passing of the former World Series Winner, who had a legendary place in the Detroit Tigers and MLB legacy, has left everyone in shock. The Tigers legend breathed his last on Monday, aged 81.
This is an enormous loss for the four-time world champions. Indebted by his treasured contribution, the Tigers shared their thoughts with a message for the lost soul. The baseball world followed with its respects to Price, who has given his voice to many baseball dreams to become an eternal part of history.

Jim Price was one such name who remained part of the Tigers’ organization even after his retirement as a player in 1971. Detroit Tigers reflected on the same while sharing their respects to Jim Price.
We mourn the passing of Jim Price, a treasured member of the Tigers organization for decades.
He spent all five years of his playing career wearing the Olde English ‘D’, including the 1968 World Series championship season.

The current Special Assistant to the President of Baseball Operations, Willie Horton, who played with Price, expressed the loss as ?This is an incredibly sad day for the Tigers family,?
He added, ?Jimmy was one of a kind, and one of the best ambassadors for the organization since he retired as a player. He was an incredible teammate and friend to so many, and his impact will never be forgotten. My thoughts are with Lisa and all of Jim?s family.?
For the record, Price played for the Tigers for five years as a catcher, including the Championship year. He played his last game in 1971 to change his duties as an announcer voicing over the many World Series title. Price again shifted his space and became part of Detroit’s television broadcasts in the 1990s. He then performed the same role with a passion as a radio announcer.
Beyond the field and the commentary box, Price played a crucial role in the fight against autism. He founded a nonprofit foundation in the name of his son, Jack. The motive was to benefit the individuals diagnosed with autism. Because of all this, Price found his place in multiple hearts. And his loss was a setback for them, which brought a lot of pain for them to contend with.

It is a sad day for the Detroit Tigers. But taking inspiration from Price’s words, they will look to finish the season on a high. Given that they are in the race for the playoffs currently, the Tigers would look to repeat the feat of 1968, adding more to the legacy of Price. Will they be able to do it? Only time will tell.
