As the new MLB season rolls, every day is coming as a surprise. On Monday, the Los Angeles Angels made a pretty low-key but interesting move. They picked up left-handed pitcher Jake Eder from the Chicago White Sox. The exchange? Well, cash considerations. Eder, who is just 26 years old, is now headed to Triple-A Salt Lake to kick off this next chapter in LA.
But here is a twist—Eder was designated for assignment by the Chicago White Sox last week.
But instead of waiting, the Angels got in and grabbed him. Although some adjustments were made, like letting go of right-hander Michael Peterson to make room for Eder, it’s a move that the Angels are hoping will bring fruits in the future.

The Chicago White Sox have traded left-handed pitcher Jake Eder to the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for cash considerations.

As far as Jake Eder goes, his journey first started when he was drafted by the Miami Marlins back in 2020. His commendable minor league career got him his MLB debut with the White Sox last year. He even pitched two innings against the Angels. In 2024, he spent time with both Double A and Triple A with 122 strikeouts in 109 innings. Well, apparently, he was supposed to be an asset for Chicago. And with that expectation, it’s understandable why fans are mad!
Right now, for the Los Angeles Angels, this could be a great move to add depth to the lineup. But for the White Sox, this trade has been rather eye-rolling, as there lies a deeper story. And fans are making their feelings known against chairperson Jerry Reinsdorf on social media.
Chicago White Sox Fans’ furious reaction to yet another Jerry move
Seems like nothing frustrates the White Sox fans more than the franchise’s baffling roster changes. The latest head-scratcher is a move that turned their fan-favorite slugger into nothing.
Jerry’s favorite player

Mockery from fans! Jerry had traded Jake Burger to the Marlins at the 2023 deadline in return for Jake Eder. Burger then was a homegrown slugger and fan favorite, so that move frustrated fans. Plus, Eder was coming off a Tommy John surgery, and now even he has been shipped off. Now, fans are feeling like the White Sox traded Burger for essentially… nothing. Making the scene worse!
Jerry loves cash

One X user couldn’t help but point out that Jerry might simply love cash. Fans have become used to seeing the Chicago White Sox part ways with predictive players to earn that financial flexibility. The cost of it is even enough at the expense of not winning at all. The Burger deal was already frustrating because the Marlins really turned his value into assets. They flipped him this off-season for three more prospects after his solid stint in Miami. And now the White Sox ended up with nothing to show for their trade. Love cash, and sacrifice game – seems like that’s the truth for them.

At this point, cash consideration might just be a retired number in Chicago! The team, though, has a long history of making moves as such. Plus, they have been making baffling roster decisions for years. They are in a trend of swapping players with the Angels as of now. The teams until now have exchanged players like old baseball cards. From Yoán Moncada, Nicky Lopez, and Chuckie Robinson to now Eder in Anaheim. While the White Sox have picked up players like Matt Thaiss, Ky Bush, and Edgar Quero, none of it seems to have improved Chicago’s standing.
I wonder if Jerry could maybe sell the team mid game.

Chicago White Sox fans, with every passing season, are losing patience with their ownership. So a strong distaste for the current leadership has come on. But it is understandable that fans are bitter because they are coming off a bad season. Even that would be an understatement when they just set the franchise record for most losses in 162 games. For them, even winning 60 games would be a success, and it’s a sign of where the team stands.

Kenny William‘s last parting gift. no one loves cash considerations more than Jerry 😂
— Oh hai mark! (@Ohhaimark91) March 31, 2025
The Jake Burger trade was not just a bad move; it was one of the final moves made under the leadership of Kenny Williams and Rick Hahn. The problem with them was that no one knew who was in charge of the Chicago White Sox. In this, though, Williams took charge. But that wasn’t the only poor decision. Last offseason, they wanted to solve their outfield issues and had a choice to pick Dominic Fletcher or Jack McCarthy from the Diamondbacks. But they picked Fletcher and seemingly. made a huge mistake.

Meanwhile, even off the field, the Chicago White Sox are struggling. A weird incident was tarp one when, during a game against the Angels, a storm came in and the ground crew was unprepared. The tarp got stuck and forced the crew to cover the field in a low-budget operation. It sure was a fitting metaphor for how things are going in the franchise. Don’t you think?
