When Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez got together and merged the two worlds of sports and entertainment so perfectly, it looked like a match made in heaven. Their appearances were alluring, they supported each other’s endeavors, and everything seemed perfect. However, there was more to their relationship than what met the eye. And A-Rod’s obsession with entering the sports world in an ownership role was something that didn’t fit well with Jennifer Lopez.
Four years after walking out of the ballpark for good, Alex Rodriguez, paired with ex-Walmart CEO Marc Lore, decided to invest in a sports team. First on his target list was the New York Mets. However, the New York Mets’ bid, despite A-Rod and JLo putting in a combined $300 million of their own money, did not work out.
In an OK Magazine exclusive, a revelation about JLo’s minimum interest in these deals came to light. In hindsight, this was possibly a big reason for the eventual end of the J-Rod relationship.

How did Steve Cohen play a role in the downfall of Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez’s relationship?
A source told OK Magazine that A-Rod was perpetually preoccupied with “lining up” various deals to enter the world of sports. Notably, the New York Mets bid, despite A-Rod and JLo investing $300 million from their pockets, was a massive failure after billionaire Steve Cohen outbid them.

The source said, “He seemed so preoccupied with lining up deals, some of which Jen had zero interest in.”
The source continued to speak about A-Rod trying to thread an investment from the world of sports onto JLo, but that was simply not her. The source added, “Alex was constantly pushing this big picture sports business stuff on her, and that’s not her world.”
After a failed Mets deal, A-Rod headed to the NBA
One year after the failed bid on the Mets, A-Rod, and Lore teamed up again to invest in the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves. In July 2021, they made a $250 million down payment for a 20% stake. Now, almost a year and a half after making the initial purchase, the duo is apparently struggling to raise funds for their next payment.
