Arriving in 2006, by 2016, ‘MLB The Show’ has slowly and steadily become the go-to and only baseball simulation video game covering the MLB. Most recently, MLB The Show released the cover of their 2023 edition, with the face of a bright, upcoming prospect from the Miami Marlins.

Featuring second baseman (now centerfielder) Jazz Chisholm Jr. on the cover, the video game announced its latest edition, along with a date displaying the booking date for pre-orders. However, fans were not the most pleased watching Jazz Chisholm on the face of The Show, noting that there could be multiple better options.

However, the 24-year-old Bahamian lauded that his face on the cover page is a step in the right direction to influence his fellows from the Bahamas to the sport of baseball, and help them step closer to their dreams.

While talking about his face on the video game’s cover, Chisholm Jr. expressed gratitude and hope for creating a difference in the Bahamas. He said, “I’m from literally a small country that’s right outside the U.S., and you barely hear from athletes that come from there. For me, it feels like I can finally give back to other kids and it feels like I can make a difference.”

Fans, on the other hand, questioned the 2022 All-Star’s face on the cover, with the possibility of various more-fitting names, including Julio Rodriguez. Other fans also raised a concern about a poor picture choice on the cover. This is how fans reacted:

Despite starting off at second base, Jazz Chisholm Jr. will be starting in the center field in the upcoming MLB season for the Miami Marlins.

While Derek Jeter’s CEO stint with the Marlins included a wide array of good and bad decisions, it was under him that the Marlins made it to the MLB postseason for the first time in 18 years. However, it was also under the captain-turned-CEO that the Marlins traded the powerhouse of Giancarlo Stanton to the Yankees. But amidst this all, a trade that went under the radar was when the Marlins traded Zac Gallen to the Diamondbacks in 2019.
