As the 2023 season goes on, so do the New York Yankees’ struggles. Their batting lineup has been unable to score runs consistently. Furthermore, they have a positional crisis in the outfield, with two of their main outfielders in Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton injured. Most recently, an MLB insider revealed that this raised the Yankees’ 20-year-old star prospect’s chances of making the roster.

This season has been a struggle for the Bronx Bombers as they are at the bottom in the AL East. And if this continues any further, the Yanks may indeed bring their 20-year-old star prospect to the Major League roster.

New York Yankees star prospect Jasson Dominguez has a high chance of making the roster

The Yankees have many top young prospects battling to reach the MLB. One of these is none other than 20-year-old outfielder Jasson Dominguez, who was with the team in Spring Training. Most recently, MLB insider Michael Kay revealed that a top Yankees official had said not to rule out Dominguez making the Yankees roster. Kay supplemented the top official’s statement by saying that the team is in dire straights. Talkin’ Yanks shared a snippet of Kay’s statement on Dominguez on Twitter.

In the snippet, Kay says, “I thought in Spring Training that you could see him sometime in July or August. But he started his Minor League season and he was dreadful, but now he’s starting to make inroads again. A high-ranking person in the organization told me ‘Don’t be surprised if  you see him this year.’ It would be a huge jump, he’s still a baby but desperate times call for desperate measures and they don’t have a left fielder.”

This is a massive update regarding Dominguez’s future as he might make his Yankees debut this season. It will be interesting to see how the Yankees deal with the 20-year-old top prospect going forward. Bronx Bombers manager Aaron Boone sees a Derek Jeter trait in him. Furthermore, he impressed fans during Spring Training.

Dominguez hit a home run during his Spring Training debut

Jasson Dominguez played in Spring Training this year, making his debut. During his first game in the Grapefruit League, he smashed a home run, getting fans excited about his potential. He showed flashes of good batting throughout his time in Spring, but the Yankees opted to send him back to the Minor Leagues. Only time will tell if he makes his Major League debut this season.
