Recently, Nishikawa — the pillow manufacturer — announced a contest that they will gift one of Ohtani’s custom-made pillows to one lucky fan. Even though Ohtani is not on Twitter, his fans always back him on any given day.
Shohei Ohtani just loves his favorite pillow
There is a reason Shohei Ohtani loves his favorite pillow. According to an old interview with GQ Sports, the Angels star revealed it is so special. He said it fits him very well. And it almost never gives him any strained neck.
“The maker is Japanese. They took measurements of my head’s shape and shoulders and made it from that data. Because it fits me,” Ohtani said. “I place my head right in the middle facing up and both sides are the right height that fits perfectly when I turn on my side.”
The Angels’ two-way phenom also revealed that he mostly prefers to sleep with his face down.
“I almost never get a strained neck with it. I think many players do, but I rarely do. Actually, what I’m going to say will make everything I said pointless… But I mostly sleep facing down, on my side as well… a little bit of everything.”
