Shohei Ohtani is a real deal in baseball. He is a top performer in the game. No doubt about that, but his immense fan following across the world makes him even one of the most bankable players in Major League Baseball. The LA Angels star probably has the most loyal fan base.

Many people might not know, but Ohtani has an obsession with his pillow. Yes! You read it right. The Angels’ star always carries his pillow with him. Per the baseball star himself, a Japanese company made a customized pillow for Ohtani.

Recently, Nishikawa — the pillow manufacturer — announced a contest that they will gift one of Ohtani’s custom-made pillows to one lucky fan. Even though Ohtani is not on Twitter, his fans always back him on any given day. 

Shohei Ohtani just loves his favorite pillow

There is a reason Shohei Ohtani loves his favorite pillow. According to an old interview with GQ Sports, the Angels star revealed it is so special. He said it fits him very well. And it almost never gives him any strained neck.

“The maker is Japanese. They took measurements of my head’s shape and shoulders and made it from that data. Because it fits me,” Ohtani said. “I place my head right in the middle facing up and both sides are the right height that fits perfectly when I turn on my side.”

The Angels’ two-way phenom also revealed that he mostly prefers to sleep with his face down. 

“I almost never get a strained neck with it. I think many players do, but I rarely do. Actually, what I’m going to say will make everything I said pointless… But I mostly sleep facing down, on my side as well… a little bit of everything.”

Taking to Twitter, the pillow-making company shared a tweet that says one lucky winner will get that special pillow just by retweeting the tweet.

Ohtani in 2022

The LA Angels star has picked his form from right where he left in the 2021 season. With 77 strikeouts from the mound, he has been the best pitcher for his team. Ohtani has won five games out of nine starts this season.
