After undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2013, pitcher James Naile reached the MLB drafts in 2015, before getting selected by the Oakland Athletics. Within no time, he announced himself as the best defensive pitcher in the Minor Leagues, and as of 2021, the pitcher entered free agency and made his way to the Cardinals. In July 2022, James Naile made his MLB debut with the St. Louis Cardinals against Miami Marlins, but little did he know the Redbirds’ plans for him ahead of his 30th birthday.

As the talented youngster turned 30, the St. Louis Cardinals recently wished him James Naile a very happy birthday. Moreover, the team had big plans for the special occasion, including a social media mention, and a much-deserved day off. However, fate had other ideas for Naile as his day off suddenly converted into a one-way trip on a temporary assignment.

Yesterday, on 8th February, the Cardinals’ day began with a special birthday tweet going out for pitcher James Naile. However, those weren’t their only plans for Naile’s 30th birthday. A few hours after wishing the Cardinals pitcher, when the working day began, the Redbirds front office cracked a deal with Kansas City and the just-turned-30-year-old pitcher bore the brunt of it.

The birthday tweet wishing James Naile said, “Happy 30th Birthday to #STLCards pitcher @James_Naile!”

The tweet said, “We have acquired LHP Anthony Misiewicz from Kansas City in exchange for cash considerations. To make room on the 40-player roster, RHP James Naile has been designated for assignment.”

Fans don’t go easy on the St. Louis Cardinals

Fans were divided into emotions filled with humour and disappointment. While some pointed out that this was uncalled for on his birthday, others hilariously roasted the social media team who should’ve “read the script.
