The Dodgers won the World Series last year, and they appear set to get even better in 2025. Incidentally, 2025 is the first year of Blake Snell with the Dodgers, also set to start with a bang. Why? Because the 2x Cy Young Award winner is targeting to get his third this year.
“I’ve Got to Make It Happen,” said Snell to MLB.com on whether he is targeting the award again this year. Snell majorly relies on his four-seamer and curveball and sports a career 3.19 regular-season ERA.
The Dodgers got Roki Sasaki, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and Tyler Glasnow as their starting pitcher; Shohei Ohtani will join them once he is cleared for pitching. Blake Snell had a brief yet effective last season with the Giants. Injuries and paternity leave kept him away from action for a good amount of time, and he played a total of 20 games.

However, in these 20 games, he came up with a 5-3 record and a 3.12 ERA. This year, Snell is thus starting early to the season and getting all prepared for the war, saying, “I came out a couple of weeks early. I feel a lot more prepared this year.” What does it mean for the Dodgers this year?

“They know I want to pitch, and I can’t wait for it,” said Snell. Well, he is all set to splash this year with no further injuries and wishes to pitch in as many games as possible. Last year, Snell also struck out a career-high 15 batters over 6 scoreless innings. It was the highest strikeouts in six or fewer innings in MLB history.
And so the team loaded with Ohtani, Sasaki, and Yamamoto will now witness the fireball of Snell this year. A terror just waiting to happen on the field with this rotation going all guns blazing. Snell is also on the better side of getting support from a few top-tier pitchers. Better rotation ensures career longevity.

An exciting time ahead for the Dodgers and Snell
While Blake Snell is all set to make it bigger this year, the Dodgers are about to witness a better year than the last. The starting rotation of Ohtani, Sasaki, Snell, Yamamoto, and Glasnow is perhaps the best in baseball. “Roki Sasaki is projected for 190 strikeouts, Yoshinobu Yamamoto for 167, and Shohei Ohtani for 163,” said MLB insider Sarah Langs. While there are no other teams in MLB with two Japanese pitchers with 150+ SOs, the Dodgers here are going to field three. Adding Glasnow, Snell, and Miller with them leaves a minimum chance for the rival batters to stand.
This spring training season also teased Snell’s ability to make the batters uncomfortable. He pitched a scoreless inning in his spring training debut with the Dodgers and scored 20 strikes out of a total of 30 pitches. Considering how the team’s pitching rotation looks, the Dodgers fans have all the reason to smile and hope to get back the World Series ring. It’s coming to Los Angeles again this year. Well, the pre-season buildup indicates so. While Snell had already thrown the challenge to the rival batters, the fans needed to wait and watch to see how things unfolded on the ground.
Blake Snell is coming up with his four-seamers, and judging from what his spring training footage teased, the rivals need to worry about what’s coming.
