Transitioning into the business world after being a professional athlete for over two decades is not easy for anyone. But the former Yankee Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez did it with such ease that he made it look like one of the easiest things in life. While entering the business world after bidding farewell to baseball in 2016, A-Rod had no confusion in his mind that this was what he wanted to do. In fact, it was Rodriguez’s dream to enter the business world as a kid. And as he did so, he brought with him every learning from his success and also from his failures.
Not long ago, Alex Rodriguez sat for an episode of a recently released podcast, Club 30. Therein, among other things, A-Rod spoke about what he brought into his businesses from his lengthy and storied career in baseball.

From being on the diamond to having a seat in the boardroom of multiple business ventures, Alex has indeed come a long way. During A-Rod’s appearance on Club 30s podcast show, the host Henrik Lundqvist asked him about his learnings that continue to leave an impact on his business partner, billionaire Marc Lore.
With a bit of a smile, the former Yankee first said, “Well, I think it’s probably better for him to answer.” Even so, he talked about the things he thought he brings to the table while he was with Marc in the boardroom. Talking about everything A-Rod did in his career playing ball, he said, “I would say my grit, my determination, my work ethic. The fact that I have failed very publicly. And I’ve had to get back up, dust off and I just keep walking. But I got to rebuild myself. And really understand that I am so fortunate and grateful to be in this position.”
While looking at A-Rod’s career precisely, he had already entered the business world when he was playing as a professional ballplayer in Major League Baseball. After retiring, he got to use every experience of his as an athlete and also as a part-time businessman to create an empire worth having invested in.
