Anthony Volpe, the 21-year-old baseball prodigy, is causing quite a stir. Volpe has been making quite the waves in the world of baseball ever since he was in high school and now he is just one step below the big stages before he slides onto the stage right under the spotlight.
The young phenom is the New York Yankees’ number-one prospect, but that’s not all, Volpe has been drawing comparisons to one of the most iconic captains in the history of the Yankees, a player who’s led the team to countless World Series titles. So, when Anthony Volpe was compared to the legendary captain, it’s safe to say as a lifelong fan of Jeter, Volpe knows the kind of legacy the captain left behind, and he humbly understands that being compared to him is no small feat.
In his own words, “It’s humbling to hear, I grew up a huge fan of Jeter & I think there’s never going to be another player or person like him in NY or anywhere. It’s obviously very humbling, but it’s over-exaggerated, I think!”

He must be doing something right to be compared to the legendary captain. And he certainly is – Volpe is putting in the work to make his dream of becoming a shortstop akin to Jeter true.

While most players took some time off after the last season ended, Volpe showed up at the team’s development complex for workouts in December. His passion for the game is clear, and he’s ready to do whatever it takes to earn a spot as a shortstop in the Yankees’ lineup this spring.
