Having already played for two of the biggest MLB teams, Mookie Betts does not need an introduction. And being an exceptional ballplayer, Betts receives praise from everywhere, even from the entertainment world. Not many people know, but Betts is also a huge fan of a particular song.
And since February is Black History Month, it will be difficult not to talk about ace rapper Young Jeezy, whose the Dodgers slugger is also a massive fan of. Recently, the 2-time World Series champ revealed a particular song that keeps Betts always motivated.

Los Angeles Dodgers player Mookie Betts is no stranger to achievements and accolades. The 30-year-old is the first player in league history to win MVP, Gold Glove, Silver Slugger, World Series, and a batting title in the same season. Betts has been involved with baseball all his life and understands the ups and downs of a professional career. While it’s not always easy to remain in the spotlight, the outfielder recently talked about a song that has helped keep him motivated.
MLB Network, the official news channel of MLB, posted a video about Betts talking about a song by a four-time Grammy-nominated artist. The Dodgers player says in the video, “…the song that has helped me through my career is by Young Jeezy, called Bottom of the Map.”
Best of all, Jeezy responded back! “Yo shout out to Mookie Betts. That’s right, for picking my song. It’s about being relentless, doing what you do to the best of your capabilities,” the artist says.

When one looks at America’s map, the South is the place that has the most population of single-race Black people. Throughout the previous few centuries, southern states have had a history with African-Americans. And both Betts and Jeezy are from the southern states. While the Grammy-nominated artist hails from South Carolina, the outfielder was born in Tennessee.
Jazzy’s song title also alludes to that fact, and Betts talks about how he relates to that. “I’m from Nashville, Tennessee, and that is the South and I wanna put on for the South and so I’ll do what I can,” Betts says.
