Freddie Freeman's tearful confession—how would you handle such a personal crisis in the public eye?

Freddie Freeman probably had one of his worst nightmares come true as his son Maximus was rushed into the hospital because of full-body paralysis. It was a moment of panic and fear, and Freeman rushed to be with his family at this crucial time. Maximus had to stay for three days at the intensive care unit and was diagnosed with a rare neurological condition called Guilliane Barre syndrome. Chelsea Freeman updated everyone about the serious condition of their son through Instagram, and it is also where she has been sharing updates about his health.

Right now, three-year-old Maximus is back home and recovering well. However, the trauma of those agonizing days at the hospital has left a lasting impact on Freeman. Recently, he opened up about Maximus’ frightening condition, where the body’s immune system attacks the nerves. He got rather emotional about the trying time his son had to go through and was fighting back tears as he talked about the entire ordeal.

Ever since Chelsea Freeman shared about Maximus’s health scare, everyone has been praying for the young child. She recently shared that Maximus is doing so much better, has even started various forms of training. She said, “We have seen a lot of progress in the last week and a half. Max is mostly sleeping through the night again. He is sitting unassisted and even started army crawling the last few days. Our life consists of doctor appointments, physical therapy, and lots of pool time ☀️. We are so happy with how well Max has been progressing.”

While everyone has heard much from Chelsea, Freddie Freeman has remained relatively quiet. However, he recently opened up about his son’s struggles with Guillian-Barre syndrome. He said, “Max’s body fought the sickness and then started to attack its own nerves. It creates paralysis. It causes weakness in your legs and starts some tingling.” Fighting back his tears with his voice cracking, he said, “But, for Max, his paralysis went fast up from his toes up into his shoulders. It’s just, it’s a crazy syndrome. But he is getting better and all, thanks to those wonderful doctors and IVIG, what they gave him.”

Guillian Barre is an auto-immune condition, and it’s a rare condition and even rarer for children to have it. However, it is treatable given that it is looked at at the right time and by the right professionals. Thankfully, due to the prompt care, Maximus is making a strong comeback. Freddie Freeman also mentioned that he wasn’t aware of the condition before this month, so he and his wife are doing their best to collect information and raise awareness about the condition.

Freeman suffers a finger injury!

Freddie Freeman had a rather emotional game against the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday. Not only was it his 2000th game of his career, but he was also using a custom bat to honor his son’s struggles. It had the inscription #Maxstrong, and he made three bats for his three sons. Talking to The Athletic, he said, “Last night in the 2000 game, I used Max, Max’s bat. But when I FaceTime the family last night, Charlie was wanting me to use his bat tonight. So I will be going with Charlie tonight. And then he said, I want you to use Brandon tomorrow. So each day I’ll use one of my kids’ bats.”

However, things didn’t turn out great at the game. Freeman’s mind must have been preoccupied or he must have been disturbed because he ended up injuring his finger. He got his right hand stuck while fielding a ground ball in the sixth inning. The Los Angeles Dodgers had to bite the bullet and remove their star baseman from the team. Kike Hernadez replaced him at first base. Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register reported that Freeman’s finger seemed swollen, but no broken bone has been reported as of yet. While the X-ray didn’t show a fracture to his fingers, they are most likely jammed from the intense jerk.

So far, Freeman has started every game for the Los Angeles Dodgers until he took a hiatus on July 26 to be with his son and his family during the trying times at the hospital. However, he made a return on July 5. Even though things didn’t go as well with the game with the Cardinals and his injury took him out of the game, he will bounce back in no time.
