Derek Jeter was more than a player for the New York Yankees. Apart from being a fine shortstop, the former Yankees captain was an excellent leader in the Yankees clubhouse. Recently, the Yankees called their star prospect, Oswald Peraza, for the shortstop position.

Ever since Jeter retired from the game, the Yankees have been searching for a shortstop as good as Jeter for their MLB games. But it is a pity that even after eight years, the Yankees have not found Derek Jeter’s replacement.

However, the 22-year-old, Oswald Peraza, has been looking promising candidate to finally become a regular shortstop for the Pinstripes. And given Peraza’s talent, it will not be long before the Yankees prospect becomes a regular part of the Yankees lineup.

Oswald Peraza is living his dream at the New York Yankees

Even though the Yankees’ shortstop did not win in his major league debut, the Yankees have found a gem in Oswald Peraza. Earlier on Thursday, Peraza shared how it feels to be a Yankee. The young shortstop said it is nothing but a big dream for him to represent the Pinstripes.

“Beautiful experience. You ask any kid, they probably tell you they want to be the shortstop for the New York Yankees. It’s a big dream; Being able to be here and enjoy… It’s an amazing experience and I just want to give the fans a good show,” Peraza said.

The Yankees’ shortstop also said that he has been playing baseball since he was a kid. Considering the Yankees are the biggest MLB franchise, every baseball player dreams to play in the Bronx at least once in their career.

“You’re short for words when you hear that you’re finally going to the big leagues and you might have an opportunity to play short for the Yankees,” Peraza said through an interpreter.

“You think about the path and all the different levels to get here. I’ve been playing this sport since I was a little kid. It’s very exciting.”
