Derek Jeter recently was a guest at the Arena Club. There he talked about a lot of things, including the collectibles. A Tweet of “Casual” Troy Licastro contained a clip of the conversation. It read, The Captain @derekjeter confirmed hobby guy w/ @ArenaClub in Ch-Town @nsccshow.”

The term “confirmed hobby guy” reflects his hobby of collecting cards. It is very much common for players to have cards of inspirational figures, but they kept them private.

Jeter focused on it and shared, “Like, I said, you knew some players that collected cards, but it’s almost like you aren’t company talking about it too much.”

Addressing the changes the industry has gone through over the years, Jeter shared, “See if you go in the corner and talk about it, but it wasn’t like the main topic of conversation saw it now. I think the collectibles industry started to take off towards the end of my career. And now it’s just more.”
