Recently, the Yankees played a subway series against the Mets in the Bronx and made them sweat in the two-game series. Unlike the Yankees, the Mets were in excellent form before the series and were favorites to win the subway series.

Notably, the Yankees were struggling for the last few weeks until they played the Mets recently. And now, when the Pinstripes won the subway series, the Yankees fans remembered their club legend Derek Jeter, who once trolled the Mets for always being inferior to the American League giants.

Earlier in July, ESPN released the much-hyped docuseries based on Jeter’s personal life and baseball career. In a short clip going viral on the internet, Derek Jeter has been trolling the Mets by indirectly calling them inferior to the Yankees. Jeter said he never hated the Mets because they were just the Mets.
Taking to Twitter, ESPN shared the video of the same. ?For us, there wasn’t a hatred of the Mets. They were just how we looked at it was just the Mets,? said Derek Jeter.

When talking about the game, the Yankees dominated the Buck Showalter-led team in the two-game series in the Bronx. It was a much-needed win for the Yanks as they had already lost six series in a row.

Andrew Benintendi and Aaron Judge were the star performers for the Yankees. The AL MVP front runner Aaron Judge also got his form back after hitting two dingers in the series.
Can the Yankees dethrone the Astros from the top?
The Astros benefitted the most from the Yankees? slum after the All-Star break. On one hand, the Pinstripes were on a losing spree, while on the other hand, the Houston Astros kept winning the games. As things stand, the Yankees are three games behind the Astros. And given the postseason games are not a long way, the Dusty Baker-led team is most likely to top the American League.
