Jeter was never the best player in the league and he claimed to be so. But his discipline, dedication, and passion for the game helped the Pinstripes achieve a new high in MLB. And when talking about discipline, long before signing for the Yankees, Jeter used to follow guidelines from a hand-written contract signed with his parents.
When Derek Jeter’s sister revealed how innocent and disciplined her brother was in his younger days
Per an exclusive interview with the Sports Illustrated in 1999, Derek’s sister, Sharlee Jeter, opened up about the early life of her brother and the Yankees star, Derek Jeter. While talking about the same, Sharlee admitted it was hard for her to have an older brother who followed every guideline from their parents.
The report also suggests that Derek and Sharlee’s parents would make them sign a hand-written contract, which had curfews and rules regarding alcohol and drugs.
“I always tried to negotiate,” Sharlee said in 1999. “But Derek just sat there and nodded. It was hard having this older brother who did everything he was supposed to do.”
