Children are unpredictable and like to explore new things. This applies to almost all youngsters as they’re growing up. Even Los Angeles Angels superstar Shohei Ohtani was the same, enjoying many experiences and activities. But this wasn’t always a good thing. The two-way phenom’s father revealed one of his son’s traits that made him nervous. 

Ohtani’s father played a big role in helping him develop the fundamentals of baseball from a young age. Since then, the Angels’ two-way player has developed into a responsible superstar. But during his childhood, Ohtani did something that made his father nervous. 

Shohei Ohtani made his father nervous with his activeness as a child

Shohei Ohtani is a calm and collected baseball star. Most would think that he was similarly calm during his childhood. But that was not the case. In 2017, his father revealed one of Ohtani’s childhood traits that made him nervous. Tohru Ohtani said that his son was active and would engage in whatever interested him, such as playground equipment. But that also made the father nervous. 

According to The Mainichi, Tohru said, “He would actively engage in whatever he was interested in. He was a child who would try anything”. He further mentioned that it made him nervous, saying, “If you didn’t take care to watch him, it was dangerous”. This was a look at one of Shohei’s childhood traits that made his father nervous.

But he was able to avoid any accidents and grew up loving baseball. Shohei’s father inculcated several beliefs in his son to help him develop as a player. Tohru taught his son to treat his equipment well, even if he is playing badly. Furthermore, he wanted his son to learn the value of things. This relationship with his father has prompted the Angels’ star to have his own dream for his kids.

The Angels star wants his son to carry on his baseball legacy

Shohei Ohtani made a list of life goals when he was in High School. One of them was for his first son to play baseball. The Angels’ two-way star had baseball ingrained in his very upbringing and wants the same for his children. This is not surprising considering that the sport surrounded him. It will be interesting to see if Ohtani does indeed pass on his baseball legacy to his son.
