“It Was Always Worth It to Support Them and Their Dreams” – Mother of Alex Rodriguez Once Shared the Reason for Having Two Jobs as a Single Parent

For any person, childhood is one of the most important parts of life. It’s what shapes them and gets them ready to become a force of nature. But it’s not perfect for every kid out there, however much they want it to be. It certainly wasn’t happy in the way Yankees icon, and now Business Mogul, Alex Rodriguez had wanted his childhood to be. His father left him and his family while he was a kid.

Rodriguez and his family moved back to the United States and settled in Miami when he was seven years old. Then, he was taught the basics of baseball by his father. However, a few years later, his father left the family. 

Since all the kids were young when Alex’s father left, his mother, Lourdes, took it upon herself to give her kids the best education possible. She did it, even if it meant doing two jobs at a time and spending less time with her kids. She opened up about the same once.

What did Lourdes say about doing two jobs at a time?

The sole reason for Lourdes to be doing two jobs at a time was her kids. She wanted her family to have a great education and for them to stay in whatever sport they chose for themselves. 

In her words, “The reason I had two jobs was because it was so important that the family had a great education and stayed in their sports. No matter how many hours it took or how hard it was, it was always worth it to support them and their dreams.”

She used to come home late at night after finishing up her second job of waiting tables. She used to leave home to start her first job as a secretary at 6 am. On most nights, she came back at around 11 pm. But someone who was always up waiting for her was her son, Alex Rodriguez.

What did Alex Rodriguez do while waiting up for his mother?

A young ARod had gotten used to a nighttime ritual. He used to wait for his mother to come back from her job. To pass the time, he watched the games of the New York Mets playing.
