González has played with a 0.193 average and has 0.597 OPS, this regular season. Saturday night, New York Yankees fought against the Milwaukee Brewers at their home ground, American Family Field, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. During the game, Marwin got hit in the head. Then had to leave the game in his first at-bat of the night.
How did Marwin González get hit in the head?
Getting hit while being on the plate usually means getting hit by a pitch. But that’s not what happened. González got hit when the Brewers catcher behind him got distracted. Instead of throwing the ball to the pitcher, the catcher, Victor Caratini, hit his hand and the ball on the side of Marwin’s head.

“I was kind of blacked out for a second and my legs were a little shaky. I was out for a minute. That’s the reason why the trainer didn’t want me to keep going,” Marwin said.
Furthermore, he added, “I was dizzy at the moment that happened. It got me pretty good.”
While González thought it was the ball that hit him, when he saw it on video, he realized what actually had transpired at that moment.
The utility player wanted to stay in the game, but as the trainer said, his dizziness with nausea were not good symptoms to continue playing with. Therefore, he had to leave the game at that moment.
Mixed reactions from the fans to González getting hit
While some of the fans thought it was funny what happened on the field, one thought it was the catcher who also should have left the game after.

Maybe it was intentional, maybe it was not. Regardless, Marwin had to leave the game early. He did not feel good after getting hit in the head, but he felt way better the next morning.
