If not for retaining Aaron Judge for a mammoth deal and landing Carlos Rodon on a six-year deal, the Yankees did not make any major signing this off-season. And even though the Pinstripes are off to a decent start for the season, there is one player that seems to be struggling more than anyone. Notably, Isiah Kiner-Falefa, the utility man for the Yanks has been something of a disappointment for fans. One recent instance even has them questioning his skills. Interestingly, Kiner-Falefa actually made history with that move, although not the kind most athletes would perhaps dream of.

The Yankees were up against the Minnesota Twins on Thursday, and Kiner-Falefa had reached a milestone just the previous day. He hit his 500th MLB career hit at the plate and returned as a pitcher the next day, his first time in that role, in the ninth inning. Notably, the athlete pitched a scoreless inning, allowing just one hit. However, the Pinstripes still lost 11-2 and Kiner-Falefa’s play left something to be desired.

The athlete’s time with the Yankees has not been long, but apparently, he hasn’t managed to win hearts just yet. The city of New York and its baseball fans are not particular admirers of Kiner-Falefa. In fact, they lashed out at him after Talkin’s Yanks posted a clip of him pitching. The caption explained the mockery that followed – it was a really slow pitch. In fact, it broke records for its speed.

“This 38 MPH Eephus pitch from IKF was the slowest tracked pitch in Yankees history”, it read. Fans had interesting responses.

Some joked about how IKF managed to make history with record-breaking moves.

One fan shared how they felt about Kiner-Falefa’s skills as a utility player.

All in all, fans indulged by making jokes about the player.

At the rate the 28-year-old is going, some fans think he should join a different team altogether.

The Bronx Bombers have been struggling to put the athlete in a particular position as Kiner-Falefa has now played at just about every post except first base. When the team was deciding the Opening Day roster and the shortstop position was up for grabs, Kiner-Falefa didn’t make it. Even though he had had success there in the past.

But if the Yankees trade him to the Pittsburgh Pirates, it could benefit them after the loss of Oneil Cruz to an injury. It would certainly make Yankee fans happy, who had hoped to see Kiner-Falefa’s touted skills in New York but haven’t gotten the chance to see them yet. And they’re afraid they never will.
