Many teams have made multiple big moves this off-season and added a lot of talent. Unfortunately for the New York Yankees fans, the Bronx Bombers are not one of those teams, leaving Manager Aaron Boone with a lot of holes to fill. Fielding is a concern for the Yankees with the outfield, in particular, being an issue. Many expected the front office to bring in an outfielder this off-season, but that did not happen.
Instead, it looks like the Pinstripes are sticking with last year’s squad and using young prospects to fill in holes. But Boone recently revealed a new plan for the outfield that involves the struggling Yankee shortstop Isiah-Kiner Falefa.

New York Yankees’ outfield is weak and lacks strong options or any variety. But Manager Aaron Boone recently revealed a plan to shore up his outfield options. Talkin’ Yanks reported in a Tweet that Boone was considering using struggling shortstop Isiah Kiner-Falefa in the outfield this season. This caused the Yankees fans to protest the decision.

In the Tweet, Talkin’ Yanks said, “Aaron Boone says that Isiah Kiner-Falefa could play outfield this season, per @ChrisKirschner”. Kiner-Falefa was the Yankees’ starting shortstop for the 2022 season and looked out of depth. He was poor defensively and lacked the contact or power to make an offensive impact. But they still gave him a new contract this off-season, causing fans to let loose.
Fans have reacted to the news, and they are not happy. Some stated that Kiner-Falefa should be benched. Others wondered why the Yankees won’t sign an outfielder this off-season. But the general reaction has been extremely negative.
Like how far in the outfield?

Lmao they will stop at NOTHING to make sure he’s in the lineup every day this season.

Does boone know that IKF doesn’t actually have to be in the lineup

2 major questions/concerns here
1. Why do we love to address our OF problems with every approach besides actually acquiring more OFers?
2. Why are we so obsessed with a guy that we signed to be a STOPGAP shortstop that we extended him & are now gonna force into the OF?

I have never seen an organization dead set on getting a certain player in the lineup as much as the Yankees and IKF

I love the way the Yankees continue to feel the completely inexplicable need to accommodate this player who does nothing particularly well. It’s awesome.

It will be interesting to see whether Boone plays Kiner-Falefa in the outfield and how it turns out. The Yankees’ manager has real issues when it comes to outfield depth this season. Furthermore, this is not the only creative measure that he might implement.
Aaron Boone is tinkering with his outfield
Last year, the New York Yankees had a hole in the left field position. Aaron Hicks was poor, both defensively and offensively. This season, Yankees manager Aaron Boone is trying some new tricks to create more depth. He is reportedly going to play star right fielder Aaron Judge at left field, despite Judge not having played the position since his college days.
