New York Yankees fans are clamoring over the return of Aaron Judge. The captain’s return has headlined the Yankees’ series against the Baltimore Orioles. But in the second game of the series, it was a Bronx Bombers utility man who stole the show. A sensational statistic puts the utility man over the likes of Judge and Shohei Ohtani in terms of clutch play.
The last 6 – 8 weeks have been rough for the Bombers with Judge injured. Poor results piled up which landed them at the bottom of the AL East. But with their captain back and other players hopefully stepping up, the playoffs are in sight.

Isiah Kiner-Falefa has been far from popular during his time with the Yankees. In fact, many fans want to see the utility man traded. But after the Bombers’ latest win over the Orioles, a stunning statistic was revealed. Kiner-Falefa is one of the most clutch players when the bases are loaded. Bombers fan Joe Randazzo shared some stats on Twitter from this season and last, making Kiner-Falefa’s impact clear.
Last season he batted .587 in 14 such plate appearances, whereas this year he has batted .667 with the bases loaded in 4 plate appearances before the latest game. In his latest appearance, IKF hit a 3-run double with the bases loaded to help the Bombers secure an 8-3 win.
Isiah Kiner-Falefa is the best hitter on the planet with the bases juiced dating back to last year.

In a Tweet, Randazzo said, “Isiah Kiner-Falefa is the best hitter on the planet with the bases juiced dating back to last year. 2022: 14 PA: .583/.571/.1.000 2023 4 PA: .667/.500/.667 (Before tonight’s big hit)”. He then concluded the Tweet with a question, saying, “Would it be the worst thing in the world if the Yankees add two outfielders and start IKF at third? Since May he’s hitting .280/.343/.429 with a 114 wRC+.”

These stats in bases-loaded situations put him above Aaron Judge, Shohei Ohtani, and even Mookie Betts, some would say. Hopefully, IKF can continue this form as Judge regains his “best player in the world” title.
The Yankees Are Pushing for the Playoffs
With Aaron Judge back in the rotation and players like Isiah Kiner-Falefa thriving, the Yankees begin their playoff push. It will be a difficult task, but not impossible. Furthermore, with the trade deadline nearing, the Bombers may look to add some talent in a last-minute deal. The past few weeks have really set them back but postseason play is within grasp. Wild Card aspirations are still alive for the Bronx-based team at the moment.
