Home/Golf

Mike Trout‘s dream project is getting closer to completion. The Los Angeles Angels slugger may be baseball’s shining star but he also harbors a passion for golf. When not swinging his bat, Trout can often be found swinging a club. The slugger is so taken by the sport that he’s building his own unique course called Trout National – The Reserve. Helping him is none other than his friend and legendary golfer Tiger Woods.

On the MLB front, the Halos player has been experiencing some trouble in his right hand after a wrist injury. Even after spending a month on the injured list, it seems Trout still needs more time to recover. Just 48 hours after being activated, he went to the IL again recently, with no certain comeback date. In the meantime, he’s focusing on his other love. But it has raised an interesting question.

Yesterday, Trout announced that he had completed another chapter in the building of his humongous project – course routing has been finalized. Expected to be ready by 2025, Trout has partnered up with Tiger Woods to plan and design the layout for the best outcome. And the duo recently appeared at the South Jersey site.

The golfer has been recovering from an ankle surgery that took place back in April and has rarely made public appearances. But there seems to be progress, as he toured the Reserve with his dear friend. But while fans have been excited to hear about Trout’s project, eyebrows are being raised at the timing of the situation.

The Angels player is supposed to be recovering from his wrist injury. While he cannot participate in baseball activities yet, Mike Trout has seemingly decided to put his focus on what he can control right now. That is overseeing the golf project. And what about a baseball return?

Golf is well and good but fans would much rather hear more about baseball right now. The Angels are missing their star slugger and were sad to see him go after just one game. However, it wasn’t the right time to make a comeback, according to Trout. He pushed his injury too far.

“I wasn’t right,” he said on Friday. “I was in some pain, more than tolerable. I thought I could push it, get back out there. I just came in the next day really, really sore. … You saw the swings. They weren’t my A swings. I was just trying to get through it. Probably shouldn’t have. Gave it a shot. It is what it is.”

While he’s as eager to come back as fans are excited to see him, recovery is also important. And it will probably take more time rather than a quick return, so fans shouldn’t hold their breath.
