Derek Jeter spent his entire 20-year-long MLB career with the Pinstripes. He made his Major League as well as Yankee debut in 1995, three years after getting drafted by the Yanks for $800,000 in the drafts. The shortstop left his college education and college baseball to pursue a future in MLB. And 20 years down the line, the world can vouch for that decision being fruitful enough.

While Jeter’s dating life took off after his alleged fling with Mariah Carey, the shortstop has always had admirers. Similarly, in an interview from 1996, Grammy and Golden Globe Award winner famous American rapper Queen Latifah, communicated her love for Derek Jeter.

In 1996, 22-year-old Jeter had just barely made his Yankee debut. But the shortstop had already started making a name for himself after signing a significant $800,000 deal at the start of his career, along with a high rating and various accolades in college baseball.

Queen Latifah, while expressing her love for Derek Jeter, said, “I love Derek Jeter. I want to marry Derek Jeter. Is he married? If he’s available.” Within 1996, Jeter proved himself in the realm of baseball by winning the Rookie of the Year award.
Notably, Jeter announced his retirement from baseball in 2014. In 2017, the Yanks retired his jersey number two and a plaque of his name in Monument Park. Eventually, in 2020, Derek Jeter’s name was added to the MLB Hall of Fame with a significant 99.75% majority.
