Losing Shohei Ohtani has put Los Angeles in a difficult position. Having to replace the 2-time AL MVP’s elite hitting and pitching will be no child’s play. Furthermore, it will be hard to find players to match that level of production on either side of the ball. But amidst a crucial off-season, the team has yet to make any major moves despite being linked to names such as Blake Snell.

The question of replacing Shohei Ohtani remains, and a thin market restricts the Angels’ options. But in a critical time of need, the Angels will be required to make some big moves.

Is Blake Snell Los Angeles Angels’ only target after losing Shohei Ohtani?

Over the course of the off-season, the Los Angeles Angels have been rather inactive in terms of adding new talent. This is despite losing Shohei Ohtani. The team had been linked to J.D. Martinez, Blake Snell, and even Cody Bellinger at one point. But no concrete connections or links have manifested yet. Now the team is in dire straits and will have to scamper to add new talent. Connections to Snell had been strongest recently, with a short-term deal being suggested.

Despite this, no negotiations have taken place yet. Furthermore, the Los Angeles Angels need to add both a top starting pitcher and a slugger to play at the DH position. A deal for Snell seems unlikely to materialize now, with the market thinning and more teams aiming for elite ace-level hurlers.

But the team may yet target the trade market and aim for players such as Dylan Cease. It remains to be seen how the Anaheim-based club will handle this latest off-season. Furthermore, beyond Snell, it could use the help of multiple stars.

Blake Snell and Cody Bellinger to the Angels?

The Los Angeles Angels have most strongly been connected to Blake Snell in recent weeks. But even these had been rumors amidst Snell’s free agency. Furthermore, Cody Bellinger had been connected at times, due to the Angels’ need for hitting. But neither player has been closely connected to the Los Angeles-based team yet. Although there remains time for the Angels to make a move, it is unlikely that they sign both Snell and Bellinger.
