Alex Rodriguez vs. an NFL linebacker in the gym—who do you think comes out on top?

Looking down and out during the pandemic, Alex Rodriguez steered his way back to a fit lifestyle. In his recent video on social media, A-Rod was seen doing workouts similar to those of an NFL Linebacker. Right from doing the core exercises to other pull-ups and tricep extensions, he looked fit at 48! In the NFL, especially in the Linebacker position, they need to perform speed drills and other core training. This was one of the reasons fans made the comparison and were curious to witness and know more! 

Still, Alex earlier was not the man he is, now. Just three years ago, around 2020, A-Rod looked lethargic and unmotivated. However, with all his training, he now stands tall, rejuvenated, fit, and happy. He attributes this transformation to his girlfriend, Jaclyn Cordeiro. She helped him shed 30 pounds of body weight!

Whether it’s A-Rod’s game for the Yankees or his fitness videos, fans have been his motivation. Recently, A-Rod showcased his five workouts daily at the gym. First was his weighted back squat followed by military pull-ups, barbell curls, triceps pushdowns, lateral and linear ladder drills, and then a cardio stair cool-down.

Sharing his experiences post-retirement, A-Rod said, Training and working out were a priority in my life [in the MLB], versus when I retired, I kind of lost my way a little bit.” In those days, he started focusing on business more than his health. Especially during the pandemic, when there was anxiety, Alex used to spend most of his time on online calls and staying up late at night. 

However, recovering from his lethargic lifestyle, Alex made a plethora of changes. Retirement taught him that being fit isn’t easy for the ex-Yankee. At 48 years of age, he analyzed his daily routine. His partner Jaclyn advised him to move to a plant-based diet that contained minerals and vitamins to help with his weight loss and focus a bit lesser on red meats.

From food quality to being physically fit, he made the right choices.

Also, after Alex Rodriguez was diagnosed with gum disease, he took his health more seriously. Perhaps presently, A-Rod’s fitness has become an inspiration for the fans. It seems he’s showing a glimpse of his previous self that the fans can see from his recent post. 

A-Rod’s gym post and fans screaming their way into the debate

Wondering how Alex’s comparison with the NFL linebacker started? It was after the statement of renowned fitness trainer Ed Downs. “One of the strongest athletes I’ve ever trained. . And I’ve trained NFL linebackers 😂😂” he wrote. Thereafter, fans came into action when one of them wrote, “Rod, you’re an inspiration. Rod, you are a man of the people. Love you, Rod.”

Indeed, what Alex has done for the Yankees is commendable. Apart from his fitness, it seems he’s a fan of A-Rod because of his gameplay, too. While one was praising him, another fan created a ruckus.

Targeting Rodriguez, one said, “How those Yankee workouts, though every gym bro on the earth, are doing the same, lol”. Though the fan’s statements are partially correct, there might be a few flaws. Although A-Rod is doing the normal, considering his age, he still looks fit.

“Always outworking everyone whether it’s on the field, in the office, or in the gym. The grind never stops!” wrote another fan in ‘awe’ of A-Rod’s dedication. On the field, Alex’s brilliance is nothing new. The list is endless, from being the World Series Champion in 2009 to winning three-time MVP.

Also, still dreaming of sharing a stage with Alex, a fanatic replied, “Imagine going to the gym and working out next to ARod”. Even if it’s playing alongside him or just a short gym session, fans wouldn’t mind breaking the bank if they got one such opportunity.

“You’ll never see Alex out of shape,” another passionate follower said, appreciating his fitness. Indeed, A-Rod’s fitness was immaculate for the last 30 years while he was with the Yankees and before. It wasn’t until the aforementioned global pandemic that he lost his way. Still, after a couple of years, he’s back to his best shape, showcasing his fitness via his posts. 

Alex Rodriguez’s journey is inspiring. What he has done on the field is truly remarkable, but off the field, he is setting an example for the youngsters even at 48! Definitely, trainer Ed Down’s statement does spark a little controversy. But, as long as the fans aspire to have Alex’s fitness, it doesn’t matter.
