‘Interesting, Inspirational, and Very Smart’ – When Yankees Legend Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez Was Smitten by Google Co-Founder’s Billionaire Ex-Wife Anne Wojcicki

Baseball legend Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez often found himself in the headlines during his playing career. Post-retirement, he continues to be in the limelight. Although, the reasons highly differ. ‘A-Rod’ has a history of brief romantic flings with high-profile women. One woman’s profile, in particular amongst them, which ranked quite high, was that of the intellectual beauty, Anne Wojcicki. 

Rodriguez is a retired baseball legend and an iconic representation in the image of a Yankees jersey. He was always a larger-than-life person, on & away from the playground. His athletic stardom and charming personality helped him impress many successful women.

Wojcicki, an elite entrepreneur, once shared a mutual love connection with Rodriguez for a brief period. She is the billionaire CEO of a personal genomics company titled ’23andMe’. 

Anne Wojcicki was earlier married to Google co-founder Sergey Brin, and the couple separated in 2015. That was apparently the year when ‘A-Rod’ and Wojcicki first met, fell in love, and began dating. Their romantic escapades went on until late 2016.

Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez is a sporting genius, who proved his mettle frequently during his playing days. Since his retirement in 2016, he mostly made headlines for his starry love relations. All of those relationships made a big flash and disappeared like a shooting star. Just as did Rodriguez’s romantic fling with tech entrepreneur and billionaire Anne Wojcicki. 

A graduate of Yale University, Anne Wojcicki worked at Wall Street as a health analyst for about a decade. She then went on to co-found the genomics and biotechnology firm ’23andMe’ in 2006 in Silicon Valley. Wojcicki then married Google co-founder Sergey Brin in 2007 until their divorce in 2015. After that, Wojcicki and ‘A-Rod’ met in 2015 through a mutual friend and started dating. 

A source close to the then-couple told Page Six in an interview, “Alex and Anne are spending time together and have been on a few dates. It is very new. He finds her interesting, inspirational and very smart.”

The couple was in love for a very brief period from 2015 until late 2016. According to reports, the couple separated because of a lack of mutual interests which turned out to be a mismatch. Anne’s mother Esther Wojcicki later spoke about Alex saying, “He seemed to be genuinely in love with Anne. But I right away figured out this was a mismatch. He had no academic background. We couldn’t have an intellectual conversation about anything.” 

Life after the split 

Since breaking up with Rodriguez, Wojcicki hasn’t reportedly been involved romantically with anyone else. Wojcicki is a single mother of two kids. She is very much dedicated to her professional life. Whereas, Rodriguez too is now single after a string of brief romantic flings. However, he has been linked with Texas fitness model Kathryne Padgett. He has a busy professional life and cares for his two daughters.
