“In a World That’s So Divided..”: MLB Legend Alex Rodriguez Makes a Heartfelt Admission on the Importance of Sports

A name that needs no introduction in baseball or in the business world is Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez. Having spent over two decades playing the game, sport is an integral part of Rodriguez’s life. There are skills that only sports can teach a person in life. And in A-Rod’s case, baseball played an important role in his success.

Whether he plays the game anymore or not, A-Rod has always been an advocate of how being involved in any sport helps someone become a better human, all while bringing people together. Recently, during FII institute’s “Mindset of a champion” panel, the former world champ talked about how a sport is the one thing that has the ability to bring people together. 

What did Alex Rodriguez say about the importance of sports?

It is true that some of the teachings that sports can teach a person, no other thing can. This includes failure as a part of life, discipline, resilience, time management, and many other things. But it is also something that has the power to unite many.

During the summit, the CEO of A-Rod Corp said, “If you think about who can capture the audience, its live sports. What sport is, it’s an opportunity. The real business is around the media, gaming, merchandise, real estate – but sports also bring everyone together from a political point of view. In a world that is so divided, it brings people together.”

Despite the mistakes that A-Rod has made in his career, he is considered to be one of the best in entire baseball. And there were many who used to come and see Alex play. The resilience he learned from baseball is what helped him to become who he is today, a multimillionaire business magnate.

How did A-Rod become the business icon?

The moment Alex decided that he wanted to play baseball, he also decided that he would also enter the business world. Thus, by selling the Rolex watches that he bought from his first salary from MLB, he started his investment firm, A-Rod Corp. It’s been almost three decades now, and he hasn’t stopped yet.

He had faced and still faces many difficulties but never stopped. Similar to how he continued giving his best in baseball until he earned his first and only World Series trophy. And now, he owns a billion-dollar worth company. Also, he is a part owner of NBA and WNBA teams and has investments in countless ventures.
