Alex Rodriguez represents the ideal man in a suit. A baseball player-turned-businessman, the 47-year-old has turned his life story into one of success. From owning the investment firm A-Rod Corp to acting as an MLB analyst for FOX Sports, A-Rod keeps busy. Not only that, but he also speaks at lectures and conferences, as well as owns the NBA team Minnesota Timberwolves. But what’s his recipe for success?
In a world full of competition, everyone is racing to acquire that dream lifestyle that is balanced in all aspects. Some have achieved it while some are still struggling to. If one asks the former for tips, they usually have one common thing to say – routine. And A-Rod is no different.

Morning routine, nighttime routine, skincare routine – there’s a reason why habitual practices set one up for success in their area of choice. While he played professionally, Rodriguez had a certain routine. “I’m a pretty boring guy. I’m very routine-oriented. Being a baseball player and playing it for almost 25 years – we are superstitious and routine-oriented,” he told CNBC a few years ago. Talking about the items he put on a breakfast plate, the former shortstop said, “For me, it’s egg whites, oatmeal, coffee, and sometimes I’ll do a little fruit.”
Then he went on to describe the rest of his day, “You’re playing baseball, you’re basically having your largest meal at midnight after the game. You’re probably unwinding, going to sleep at 1.30, or 2 o’clock, you’re waking up around 10.30. Usually, at that time, I would go to the gym, go down for a nap, wake up for lunch. And then I would go drive to the Bronx in Yankee Stadium, and then do it all over again. And we did that 200 times in 32 days. I’m exhausted.”

While every individual has their own preferences, a lot of success stories start with the 5 AM Club. Or, in Rodriguez’s case, 6 AM. “I’m a morning person. In an ideal world, I’m in bed by 8.30-9 o’clock with my daughters. I’m waking up at 6, taking them to school. First thing I like to do is get a workout in, make all my calls, do a bunch of emails, and then I usually get to the office every day around 12 o’clock,” he told CNBC. Interestingly, the former Yankee’s girlfriend, fitness expert Jac Cordeiro, says much the same thing!
