Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez, the expressive MLB power hitter and overachiever in the ballpark, turned business mogul, molded into a generational inspiration across North America. However, his relationship with the American public hasn’t always been smooth. It started off slowly. As they recognized his talent, he became a fan favorite. Then, A-Rod’s name came up with steroids. And, above all, the one thing the MLB audience hates is steroids.

Markedly, in 2009, the 14-time All-Star and three-time AL MVPs name came up in association with steroids. Eventually, Sports Illustrated reported that A-Rod’s name was amongst a sealed government list of 104 MLB players who tested positive for banned steroids.
How did A-Rod break his PED suspension news to his daughter?
After a really long wait, the MLB sentenced A-Rod to a one-season ban without pay in 2014. Since then, A-Rod has perpetually expressed regret towards the steroid scandal. He’s also claimed that he took the drugs to manage his back pain.
Nevertheless, A-Rod had to break this news to his two daughters. While talking about the guilt and shame he felt, A-Rod said, “The hardest thing I had to do, I had to admit to Natasha and Ella the mistake that I made.”

He continued to add, “And I needed [ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis] to be part of that. I told Cynthia, ‘When I sit down with the girls, they’re gonna be listening to me, but they’re gonna be looking at you, and chances are I’m not gonna make it past first base because I’m gonna probably start breaking down.’ And sure enough, I almost didn’t get out-of-home plate.”
In another interview from 2014, A-Rod spoke about his long overthinking nights, where remorse was the overpowering emotion. He expressed, “I remember sitting there at night at maybe 4 or 5 o’clock in the morning — I probably did this a hundred nights — and I would look up with tears and say, ‘How the ‘F’ did I get myself in this position? I’m the only jacka** that has pocket aces and figures out a way to lose the hand.”
A glimpse into the business empire Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez has built
A-Rod started A-Rod Corp in 1996 as a holding company. In 2003, he started making investments, particularly B2B and in the sphere of real estate. By 2012, he started Newport Property Construction, a real estate firm, and Monument Capital Management. A few more years down the line, in 2020, he became the chairperson of Presidente Beer.
