

Matt Carpenter is having an MLB season of his life. Once sidelined from the Texas Rangers, the New York Yankees gave a new life to Matt Carpenter. But way before he became a fan favorite for the Yankees, Carpenter had a memorable and long stint with the St. Louis Cardinals.
And now, when the Yankees went to St. Louis to play a three-game series against the Cardinals, Carpenter went down memory lane and could not control his emotion. Even though the Yankees lost the game against the Cardinals, Carpenter’s outing in the Busch Stadium was the highlight of the day.

Not only for Carpenter, but when any athlete leaves an organization after spending a large amount of time, it is always difficult to move on from their previous organization and find the same vibe in their new place. Though Carpenter is more than happy to play for the Yankees, he got emotional in St. Louis while sharing an innocent interaction with his son.

Everything was going smoothly until Matt Carpenter started talking about his family and children. And rightly so. He played for 11 years for the St. Louis Cardinals. While talking about the excitement of his family on their return to St. Louis, Carpenter could not control his emotion.

The Yankees slugger also revealed that his 5-year-old son does not grasp the concept that he does not play for the Cardinals anymore.

“Depending on the day, he tells his buddies I am a Cardinal or Yankee, he doesn’t know,” Carpenter said in a pre-game media address. “When we told them last week we were coming to St. Louis, they were pretty excited… They are happy to be here.”

When Matt Carpenter also received a standing ovation from the Cardinals’ crowd. Meanwhile, the Yankees faced their third consecutive defeat on Friday.

The last few seasons were very tough for Matt Carpenter. And because of that, he also lost his major league contract this year. But given his skills, Carpenter deserved to get a second chance.
The Yankees took the risk to sign a veteran slugger for their active roster. And guess what? Ever since joining the Pinstripes, Carpenter has been producing a masterclass, game after game. He joined the Yankees in May, and Matt Carpenter already has 15 home runs to his name this season.
