Jeter further added, “I knew every time we drafted a shortstop, you what I mean?… So I would check what guys were doing coming up. But yeah you play like you’re trying to keep your job. In New York, in this town, for this organization, if you don’t do your job, they’ll get someone else.”?

Derek Jeter: Life beyond the ballpark?

A passionate contributor to the sport, Derek Jeter pulled down the curtains on his playing career in 2014. Having envisioned owning a team run on George Steinbrenner’s ideas, Jeter bought the Miami Marlins in 2017. Unfortunately, Jeter failed to be a successful team administrator and so gave his resignation in 2022. Jeter now lives a happy family life with his wife and three daughters.?
