Describing his experience of visiting New York during the off-season, Jeter’s words on page 176 read, “I see fans when I visit New York in December and January, and they’ll act like the off-season is one huge party. If they see me at a Knicks game or some other event, some will joke about how I must be enjoying a fun winter.” He later focused that people perceive him as enjoying a nonstop party.

While rejecting this notion, Jeter shares that, “I usually am, but it’s not a nonstop party.” He then politely shares a critical view of his beloved fans. Focusing on the continuous baseball journey, “They don’t understand that I only visit New York for a few days at a time after the season because there’s really no off-season in baseball.”

Even though it addressed the perception of fans, Jeter also gave a crucial insight into his career. It relates to his continuous journey as a baseball player for over two decades to retire as one of the best in the league.

Two Decades of Hard Work and Consistency That Led to Jeter’s Success

Jeter played consistently for two decades, which made him a forever star. During his playing career, Jeter played over 2700 games. He scored 1923 runs, 1311 RBIs at an OPS of 0.817, and an astonishing average of 0.310. Not only this, he also claimed multiple Silver Slugger and AL Hank Aaron Awards.
