The New York Mets have spent heavily on player recruitment in the last couple of years. The central focus of this is none other than the Mets’ owner Steve Cohen himself. Cohen has been ready to invest money in the team to fulfill the objective of ending the title drought. This has been made clear by the spending that Cohen has done since taking over ownership of the team. This offseason, Cohen has committed upwards of $800 million in new free-agency signings.

The biggest of which was the shocking 12-year deal to sign Carlos Correa. These deals have caused an uproar in the baseball community and have led to many memes and jokes. Most recently, there was a joke that involved one of the biggest landmarks in New York City.

The Empire State Building’s official Twitter account recently tweeted saying that Steve Cohen had offered them a contract. The tweet said, “Steve Cohen just offered me a contract to join the Mets”.

This seems to be rather a joke by the Empire State Building. But seeing how much money Cohen has already spent this offseason, the ridiculous may actually become possible.
