Derek Jeter is an icon for a reason. Actually, the points in his favor tally up to never-ending as he has earned the respect of teammates and rivals alike. Captain of the New York Yankees for 11 years, he led his team with the goal to win. Among the many things Jeter became famous for, one was his pitch swing. When he debuted in 1995, the former shortstop’s technique raised pointed brows. It may not have been textbook perfect but he eventually went on to become the 28th player to have 3000 hits.

It was the kind of bat swing that was unique to him, although hitting coaches try to teach Jeter’s fundamentals even today. Not many can replicate it, but it seems like baseball is in the Jeter blood. Because the former Yankee’s nephew may be catching up to him.

Jalen Jeter is the spitting image of his uncle Derek Jeter

Baseball is an innate thing for this particular family. Derek’s father, Sanderson Charles Jeter, played college baseball, while his sister Sharlee was a softball superstar in high school. Now, it seems like Jalen Jeter is also following in the same footsteps as his Hall of Fame uncle.

Sharlee Jeter often shares pictures and videos of her son playing baseball and killing it in the diamond in general. Recently, she shared a clip where her son gets announced by his full name as he comes up to bat. “And now batting at number two, Jalen Jeter Martin,” the broadcaster says.

As the younger Jeter gets on the plate and swings at the ball, it is reminiscent of his famous uncle. Clearly, Sharlee thinks so too, because she captioned the Instagram story, “@derekjeter I wonder where he got that first pitch swing from…” In a rather heartwarming twist of events, while the young Jalen might follow his uncle to MLB one day, there’s now someone else to follow in both of their footsteps.

When Derek Jeter played, he had a laser focus on baseball. But after his retirement in 2014, the former Captain Clutch shifted his attention to his personal life. After marrying supermodel Hannah Davis in 2016, the couple had three daughters. But a few weeks ago, Jeter announced the birth of his fourth child, a son – Kaius Green. And baseball fans are already making plans for the littlest Jeter to join the New York Yankees one day!
