Life is unpredictable, and who understands it better than Alex Rodriguez? The former Yankees star has gone through the extremes of life. He is probably one of the figures who experienced a paradigm shift overnight. From an adorable baseball star to a corrupted player, he experienced an extreme downfall. However, the legend took it sportingly, even though he suffered a prolonged suspension. A-Rod once even called that suspension period a blessing that taught him some essential life lessons.

Challenges and hardships often give people the most required lessons. Even legends are no exception. Falling from his hard-earned image was definitely traumatic for the 2009 World Series Champion, but he took things positively to tell the story of his life. Whether be it “Good, bad or ugly.

Alex Rodriguez Decided to Tell His Story

Since retirement, the former Yankees third baseman never really hid his life stories. He loved to stay in the mainstream media, sharing his stories and thoughts to inspire the youth. In 2018, the MLB legend sat for an interview with Marvin R. Shanken and shared the unheard stories of his life. While talking about his fandom and baseball career, the player said, “I just wanted to play baseball, hit home runs and help my team win championships.” As he continued, he shifted to the time of his PED suspension.

The legend went through a tough time because people were telling their own versions of his story as he fell from his honorable position. However, according to him, it also taught him something valuable, “And I knew I had made mistakes but I wasn’t a bad guy. But I was being portrayed as a bad guy. And I needed the full year, the sabbatical, to understand that I better start taking control of my life, of my narrative. Start telling my story. Good, bad or ugly, just be real, just be honest and then take your chances.”

This learning probably helped him get back to his lost position soon after he got back to his team and even to date. While Rodriguez is another term for success, his path has never been easy, especially after the PED scandal.

The infamous drug scandal cost him multiple things. Because of his PEDs consumption, the former Yankee was suspended for the entire 2014 season. He was even cost $40 million from his salary. Later, it stuck his HOF entry.
