With Judge's home run streak, is he the best power hitter in MLB right now?

In a tale as old as time Aaron Judge hit a massive home run in a losing effort. As it stands, the New York Yankees can’t catch a break. Despite their captain’s 470-foot monster, the team just couldn’t get the job done. But while that calls for a massive change, one can’t deny that Judge’s habit of hitting big home runs continues to shine. However, even after being baseball’s most powerful hitter, somehow All Rise is also its most humble.

Judge was visibly upset after the Bronx Bombers lost their lead against the Boston Red Sox. In an all too familiar scene, the Pinstripes had things under control until their bullpen succumbed to immense pressure. As a result, the captain couldn’t celebrate his 470-foot home run that traveled to places previously unseen by Fenway Park. But then, that raised an important question – just how far can Aaron Judge’s home run go?

“I try not to watch them,” Aaron Judge said in his postgame interview about his home runs. “So I had to check the reply to see where it went but I was just happy it gave us three runs.” That was a game-changing hit by Judge. Before this shot the Bronx Bombers were trailing 3-4 to the Red Sox. However, this three-run hit turned that into a 6-4 lead. Though they ended up losing 9-7 to their rivals, the Yankees couldn’t stop talking about Judge’s home run (the fifth longest of his career).

“Did it go over the scoreboard?” Aaron Boone asked after the game. “I just know when he squared it up, I was like, ‘that’s about as clean as you can hit a baseball.’” That was the reaction of everyone in the Yankees clubhouse. Especially because they may have seen All Rise hit massive homers but this rocket was special. It overshadowed 300 home runs hit by Judge (he has hit 305 in total). So how long has Judge gone? The answer is quite simple. But the biggest question is – has Fenway Park seen a bigger hit yet?

Aaron Judge’s terrific home run record continues to astound the league

Per MLB.com Aaron Judge’s 470 ft shot was the 5th biggest of his career. Interestingly, it is his second-longest home run of this season. The first one was that massive 473-footer he hit against the Houston Astros on May 9. Overall, the longest home run that Judge has ever hit is the 496-foot monster he hit in 2017 against his current teammate Marcus Stroman. As for Fenway Park – it has seen three bigger hits in the Statcast era.

The list includes Miguel Sano’s 495 footer (2021), Gary Sanchez’s 479 footer (2018), and Vladimir Guerrero Jr’s 471 footer (2024). But for Aaron Judge, all of them came for naught because the New York Yankees lost. So despite continuing to place himself in history books, All Rise can’t celebrate openly. The Bronx Bombers continuous slide is scary but more than that, it is tragic. Despite having generational stars like Juan Soto and Judge, the team can’t put together a consistent run.

“A loss is a loss,” Aaron Judge lamented, adding, “If we lose by 15, or lose by one, or lose by two.” His words showed regret, and as a result, all eyes are now on the trade deadline. Can Brian Cashman weave a magic trick to give his captain a good supporting staff, or will the New York Yankees continue to flounder in 2024? What do you think? Tell us in the comments below.
