While Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter started off as best friends, the journey towards greatness tainted their relationship. And unfortunately, like every story has a hero and villain, this story did too. A-Rod played as a shortstop before he arrived at the Yanks. However, he faced his first setback when he had to shift to the base as captain Jeter had already occupied the shortstop position.

Years down the line, in 2014, the MLB suspended A-Rod for a season due to his steroid scandal. And Derek Jeter retired in the same season. All things considered, today, years after both the legends have retired, they share a mutually co-existing relationship that involves respect and appreciation. Similarly, Derek Jeter displayed exactly that in the ‘Pardon My Take’ podcast.
Are A-Rod and Derek Jeter on good terms presently?
After discussing A-Rod’s contribution to the 2009 World Series, the hosts enquired about Jeter’s relationship with the former Yankee baseman. Derek Jeter very calmly responded saying, “It’s good man, it’s good.”
Notably, A-Rod appeared in Jeter’s documentary and their honest opinions depicted their relationship in a bad light. However, Jeter did put a full stop to speculations and clarified that all of that was in the past.
He said, “I told him [A-Rod], say whatever you want, give your opinion. And we got together and I said, ‘when it comes to the documentary, I’m just letting you know how I felt at that time. A lot of things happen in life. I have a family now. We lose close friends, we get older, we realize what’s most important and things which you can just put to the past.”
Jeter continued to say, “So, I wanted him to understand that any feeling I may have had is behind me. So, we move on from that.” All in all, Jeter puts an end to all the speculations that had been manifesting in the public eye for years, about a major strain on their relationship.
Captain Clutch’s career in the ballpark
Derek Jeter appeared in the Pinstripes for the first time in 1995. That was also his first MLB appearance. And the rest as we know is history.
