Taking over the Astros in the middle of the shortened 2020 season was already a tough task, but somehow, Baker is the one who made it seem to look easy. In 2021, under his management, the Astros reached the World Series, but could not win. This year, they again entered the World Series, but this time they did not lose.
Under Baker’s guidance, the Astros won their second World Series in the history of the franchise. It was not easy to get here, but Baker made it possible. Now, considering the tremendous career that Baker had with the Astros, it would make sense for him to return as manager in the coming season. Also, Baker has said that he is definitely returning.
Dusty Baker hasn’t signed an official contract, yet!
Despite not signing the contract with the Astros to mark his return as manager in the 2023 season, Baker is pretty sure that he is returning. After all, the veteran manager made a promise to himself of winning the second World Series if he ever won the first.
Dusty Baker confirms he'll return to manage the Astros in 2023, though the contract isn't finalized: "I always said if I win one, I want two. I like to keep my word. This is as much fun as I've had ever."

And now when he has done so, he isn’t backing away from that promise. In his words, “I always said if I win one, I want two. I like to keep my word. This is as much fun as I’ve had ever.”
Although he hasn’t signed a contract, by his words, it could be said that a contract might be in the works already. After the big scandal of 2017, the World Series that the Astros won, this win might be the true win for the Astros.
MLB fans are in favor of Dusty to return
He sure does deserve another one!

Great deal. They have an excellent chance to repeat. And will have some money to spend to get more offense.

Although the Houston Astros already had a pretty impressive squad before the 2022 MLB season kicked off, Baker’s leadership worked as the icing on the cake for the 2022 World Series champs.
